Railcard refunds

If you've changed your job, or you've been ill for a long period, or you'd prefer the comfort of travelling 1st class, you may decide to apply for a refund, or to change your Railcard. The amount of the refund will depend on the type of Railcard you've purchased, the number of days you've held it, and the administrative fee to be deducted.

Cancellation of your Railcard

Perhaps you thought you'd go to work or school by rail and at the last minute it turned out not to be possible.

  • If you return your validation ticket before its first validity date, then you'll receive a full refund.
  • If you return your ticket during its period of validity, the amount will be deducted from what you've paid, taking account of the number of days you've held it (the day when you return it counts as a day of use) and the administrative fee.

Exchanging your Railcard

If you'd like to travel a different route with your Railcard, or travel in a different class, or change the category of your Railcard, then you can.

You just have to request an exchange at the station of your choice. You return your Railcard and state which Railcard you want. Your new Railcard will be validated from the day following the exchange (the day of return is deemed to be a day of use). The amount corresponding to the number of days when your Railcard was not used will be refunded to you directly.

Please note: when the new Railcard is issued, an administrative fee of 5,00 EUR* will be charged.
