Lost or forgotten your Railcard or forgotten to validate?
You've left your wallet at home, forgotten to revalidate your Railcard, been unable to go to the ticket office before boarding the train? It can happen to anyone, but when checking, the train staff have to take note and draw up an irregularity report. But there's no need to panic, because the SNCB has decided to be understanding by allowing you one absent-minded occasion in one year (except for Campus and Half-time Railcard) on condition that certain rules are complied with.
Railcard left at home
Take your Railcard to a station within 14 days with the irregularity report made out by the train staff during their inspection. Our staff will check that your Railcard was in fact valid on the day when you forgot it. If this turns out to be the case, you don't need to pay anything.
If you are absent-minded once again after two lapses in the same year (you forgot your railcard twice, you travelled with an expired railcard or either of both irregularities) or if you fail to comply with the terms, we cannot continue to be flexible.
If on inspection it appears that you’ve forgotten your railcard once again, an administrative fee of 7,70 EUR will be charged if you present your railcard at the station within 14 calendar days. If you don’t, or if it turns out your railcard was not valid on the day the irregularity was established, the general terms will apply.
Expired Railcard
You travelled when your Railcard had expired the day before? Take the irregularity report to the station as fast as possible to put things right: you just have to revalidate your Railcard from the inspection date. The new validation will cover the day of the irregularity. However, if your Railcard expired more than one day earlier, you cannot be granted this facility.
N.B. From your second lapse in a year (forgotten Railcard or expired Railcard), we cannot continue to be so flexible. This means that, on inspection, the train staff will apply the general regulations.
Lost Railcard
You've lost your Railcard, or - worse - it's been stolen? It's not a problem - you can obtain a duplicate of your validation ticket or of your validation ticket and main card in the station of your choice (a maximum of 1 duplicate is authorised during the validity of the main card). To do this, fill in a new application form in French (pdf) or Dutch (pdf) with your Railcard number, present an identity document, and hand over a recent identity photo. In case you should not have a recent passport photo, we can also load this from your electronic ID card. There will be an administrative fee of 5,00 EUR* for making up your duplicate.
For Half-time Railcards and Campus, duplicates of current validation tickets cannot be provided.
