Example of a Railcard?

It's good to know... a railway season ticket = a RAILCARD

A Railcard always consists of:

  • one laminated main card (validity period of 10 years for cards issued before 01/12/2009, validity period of 5 years for cards issued as from 01/12/2009) showing the holder's details and journey. Each type of Railcard (journey, school, etc.) requires its own main card;
  • a validation ticket showing the period during which the holder can use the Railcard.

The main card and the validation ticket together form the valid travel document. A Railcard can never be used without a validation ticket.
