Fares > Feel like doing something different? > B-Excursions

general information (1 april 2011 to 31 march 2012)

The B-Excursions formula includes a return 2nd class train journey, admission to the attraction in question and your connection by bus, tram or metro, if necessary. You only have to pay once and everything is included in your ticket. Naturally, all the excursions are easily accessible via public transport.

Trains, visits, attractions and connections: compare the prices and you will soon see that the "B-Excursions" combined ticket provides the best value package for your excursions.

There are permanent B-Excursions formulas for both individuals and groups (information available in French or Dutch), as well as special Train + Cycle Hire packages (information available in French or Dutch), and separate entry tickets for passengers who already have a train ticket (information available in French or Dutch).

There are also B-Excursions for school groups (information available in French or Dutch), and further information can be found in the school groups brochure (only available in French or Dutch).

Finally, throughout the year, we offer a range of temporary B-Excursions for events, fairs, temporary exhibitions, etc. You will find a selection of packages in our quarterly brochure (only available in French or Dutch).

B-Excursions for individual travellers

Prices

For individual travellers, the price of a B-Excursion varies according to age.

For each destination, we offer 3 different prices according to age group, unless a flat rate applies. The price you will pay depends on the distance between your departure and destination stations (Zone A: from 0 to 34 km / Zone B: from 35 to 69 km/ Zone C: 70 km or more). You can calculate the cost of your B-Excursion using our price calculator.

N.B. The price of B-Excursion tickets cannot be combined with other special offers or reductions. (*)

Where and when can you buy a B-Excursion ticket?

B-Excursion tickets are on sale in every Belgian station from 31 days before the departure date right up until just before the train leaves, provided that no prior reservation is required. If you do need to book in advance, this will be indicated in the programme.

If a reservation is required, it should be made in the train station during office opening hours.

N.B. Groups must always make a reservation with the Group Travel Centre for domestic services (see below).

Certain B-Excursions are also available directly through our website. If this is the case, they are marked with the Ticket On Line logo on the website.

Which train should you take?

Depending on the activities in the B-Excursion you have chosen, you are free to choose the time of departure that suits you (does not apply to groups). To help you choose, you can ask for information from our station personnel or consult the timetables on display in the stations, our website or the official directory.

N.B. A stipulated time of arrival applies to some B-Excursions. For B-Excursions that run into the evening, we advise passengers to check the time of the last train returning to their departure station.

Age categories

The rates for "children under 12" apply to a maximum of 4 children per paying passenger over 12 years of age with an individual B-Excursion ticket.

For those aged 65 or over, special Senior tickets are available during specific periods. Sometimes it may turn out cheaper to buy this type of ticket and buy your entry ticket separately at the station or at your destination. Please ask for information in advance from our partners. The telephone numbers and website details for the attractions are listed for each B-Excursion.

Why not travel 1st class?

The listed prices are valid for 2nd class train travel.

However, if you would like to travel 1st class, you can upgrade to a 1st class B-Excursion at the ticket office of your station by paying the following supplements (depending on the distance between your departure and destination stations): 3.00 EUR** (Zone A) – 5.00 EUR** (Zone B), and 9.00 EUR** (Zone C).

The supplement can also be purchased on the train. There are no 1st class B-Excursions or supplements for groups.

Mobility impaired passengers

A special brochure is available free of charge at all our stations, and can also be consulted on our website. For each of our B-Excursions, we also list the telephone numbers and website details of our partners, so that you can obtain full information on the facilities available on-site.

What to do if you cannot travel

If you are not going to use your B-Excursion, in certain cases you can obtain a refund for your ticket at the ticket office of the station where it was bought. If you notify us before the day of travel, we will give you a full refund. There will a processing charge of 4.80 EUR** per ticket if you notify us on the day of travel. We cannot offer any refund if you notify us after the date of travel.

B-Excursions for groups

B-Excursion packages are also available for those travelling in groups, who will be able to obtain even more advantageous prices for many B-Excursions. The minimum number of travellers required to qualify (children, young people, adults and seniors) is indicated for each B-Excursion.

How to book

In order to receive the benefits of a group discount, you must make a prior reservation with our Group Travel Centre for domestic services.

What to do if you cannot travel

You must make a refund request to the Group Travel Centre at the station at least 5 working days before your departure date if the tickets have not yet been delivered. If the tickets have already been delivered, we can refund the tickets, minus processing charges of 4.80 EUR** per paying passenger.

If you inform us less than 5 working days before your departure date, we will not be able to offer any refund.

Partially used tickets cannot be refunded.

B-Excursions for school groups

Simply make sure that your group contains the required number of paying students. All students, including those aged under 12, will pay the B-Excursion rate for school groups. This means that they will benefit from seat reservations. Certain trains are not available to (school) groups due to high seat occupancy rates. In these cases, the Group Travel Centre will help you to find the most suitable alternative.

Groups must always be accompanied by at least one accompanying adult. For every 15, 20 or 25 paying students (depending on the B-Excursion in question), one accompanying adult is offered free travel and admission to the activities. If there are more accompanying adults than free tickets, the B-Excursion group rate or special rate for accompanying adults will apply. If there are fewer accompanying adults than free tickets, the excess free tickets will be lost. Finally, travel must always take place during a period when schools are open (from Monday to Friday, excluding school holidays).

We are unable to offer any refund if you inform us less than 5 working days before your departure date, unless you can present a valid medical certificate drawn up by a doctor.
If you have a certificate, you must make your request to our Customer Services department (SNCB Mobility Service Central Clientèle B-MO. 624 – section 13/6 Avenue de la Porte de Hal 40, 1060 Brussels) and the tickets will be refunded minus processing charges of 4.80 EUR** per paying passenger.

Partially used tickets cannot be refunded.
