Tickets for job seekers from the VDAB, FOREM, ACTIRIS and seafarers looking for work. These tickets may be used only for travel as part of job applications.
When purchasing or asking for a ticket for job seekers, an attestation from the above employment services must be presented, otherwise such tickets cannot be obtained.
Tickets for job seekers from the VDAB
These tickets (price code 045) are valid only in 2nd class for a single or return journey, and are sold at a standard fare.
They are valid for one day, for the train journey between two Belgian stations (except for frontier points).
How to enjoy this special discount ticket?
Take the document proving your scheduled job interview or exam to the VDAB office. VDAB will issue 2 attestations that entitle you to obtain a ticket at a reduced fare. Hand over one copy of the attestation to the ticket clerk at your station and you'll receive a train ticket in return; keep the second attestation with you during the train journey, together with your train ticket, so that you can show it to the ticket inspector.
Tickets for job seekers from the FOREM/ACTIRIS
These tickets (FOREM price code 047 / ACTIRIS price code 049) are valid only in 2nd class for a single or return journey and are sold with a price reduction of 75%.
They are valid for one day, for the train journey between two Belgian stations (except for frontier points).
How to enjoy this special discount ticket?
Take the document proving your scheduled job interview or exam to the job placement agency. If you meet the conditions, you’ll receive an attestation entitling you to request a train ticket at reduced fare. On presentation of the attestation to the ticket clerk at your station, you'll be able to buy a reduced-fare train ticket. Keep the attestation with you during the train journey, together with your ticket, so that you can show it to the ticket inspector.
Tickets for seafarers looking for work
These are valid for the train journey between the job seeker’s home (for the profession of seafarers in the Merchant Navy) and the Antwerp zone. They are valid only in 2nd class and are free. The outward and return journey must be made on the same day.
Job seekers seeking jobs as seafarers in the Merchant Navy need to be in possession of an attestation issued by the service ‘Pool der zeelieden ter Koopvaardij’. This must be presented.
Additional information
- These tickets may not be combined with De Lijn, MIVB or TEC.
- It is not permissible to take a "Via" route.
- These tickets do not allow for:
- journey extension.
