How to apply for your Large Families discount card?
There is an “application form for a Large Families discount card” (form C81), which you just have to fill in and have it authenticated by the municipal authorities*.
This form can be obtained from the ticket office of any station, but you can also download it in Dutch (pdf) or French (pdf).
When you've filled in the form, hand it over at the station nearest your home, accompanied by an identity photo. You pay 6,00 EUR** per application, regardless of the number of cards requested. This

How to apply for a duplicate of your discount card?
If you’ve lost or damaged your discount card, a duplicate can be issued.
As we hold your details, you no longer have to go through all the administrative procedures. The head of the family fills in a new form C81, which is available from any Belgian station or which you can download it in Dutch (pdf) or French (pdf).
Hand in the completed form and an identity photo at the station where you applied last time. You will receive a duplicate against payment of a fee of 5,00 EUR**.
Your discount card is about to expire?
You can renew your discount card for the next calendar year in the station nearest to your home address. Renewal applications can be submitted at the earliest:
- as from 1st November for cards valid one year (code 041 - for children and people with temporary card entitlement).
- as from 1st July for 5-year cards (code 040 - parents who are entitled to a discount for life).
Ask for a C81 application form at the station, or download it in Dutch (pdf) or French (pdf), and have it authenticated by the municipal authorities*.
Of course you don’t need to fill in the whole form again. Fill in box I (last names, first names, address), box VI (identity card numbers), the vendor will indicate the number/s of any old card/s which is/are still valid or attach the expired card/s. You sign, hand it over at the station, accompanied by an identity photo and pay the issue fee (6,00 EUR**).
Family compositions submitted on line by means of the electronic ID card will be accepted.
Other info
- This card is made out in your name, so it can't be transferred.
- As soon as you’ve received and signed the card, you can use it.
- For children aged 18-25, it is necessary to have the Family Allowance body fill in and sign the section on family allowances.
- A certificate from the Family Allowance body may be enclosed instead.
- Certificates from the communal administration and from the Family Allowance body must not be older than three months counting from the date of application.
- Please remember that to get a ticket with a reduced fare, you always have to show your discount card (which must be valid on the date of the journey). You must always take it with you when you travel by rail.
- If your address changes, you need to submit a new application. New cards will be issued.
* An official family composition certificate may be enclosed instead.
