Tickets for military personnel
- serving military personnel, in uniform or in civilian clothes, holding a valid reduction card
- chaplains, reserve officers and reserve NCOs not discharged from their military obligations.
These tickets may be purchased only on presentation of the special reduction card, which is strictly personal.
What sort of tickets and travel warrants?
Ordinary tickets from and to all Belgian stations or unsupervised stopping points, including frontier points.
- Tickets for 1st or 2nd class
- Tickets for a single or return journey
In international travel, the reduction is granted as far as the frontier point.
How much reduction ?
- Serving military personnel, in uniform or in civilian clothes, 50 % reduction
- Chaplains, reserve officers and reserve NCOs not discharged from their military obligations : 50 % reduction
Exceptions
Military personnel on active service and military personnel returning home from the recruiting centre or reporting to barracks for their first posting must use a service ticket.
Applying for reduction cards
The reduction cards are not issued by the NMBS.
Reduction cards must be applied for from FOD Defensie, DGHR-A/Notariaat, Koningin Astrid Kwartier, Bruynstraat 1, 1120 Brussels.
The reduction cards are strictly personal and may not be passed on to third parties.
Additional information
A Via route may be taken provided that a Via ticket is requested.
