This card replaces the old green cards, which will remain valid until their expiry date.
Who is it for ?
For anyone who has difficulties with standing.
What are the advantages of this card ?
On presentation of this card you will be given priority for occupation of a seat in 1st or 2nd class, marked with the broken sword symbol.
You still need to hold a valid ticket. This doesn't mean that it has to be a Standard ticket. Tickets with discounts, Railcards, Passes and so on are also valid. This card does not carry entitlement to a discount on the price of a ticket.
The under-12s can also use this card if they meet the conditions for validity
If you hold a discount card for patriotic reasons showing the wording "standing difficulties", you will be entitled to a seat without further formality. To prove that you are entitled to your seat when a check takes place, just show this discount card to the ticket inspector.
N.B.:
When there are no seats left in 2nd class, you must notify the train staff before you go to sit in 1st class.
